TravelTalk - Big Island September 2014 - Photos!

Big Island is one of my favorite if not, my favorite island of Hawaii.

This trip was super quick in comparison to my other trips to the Big Island, coupled with two mutes who had the nerve to use the term "socially inept" to talk shit about someone, while their inability to carry a conversation or even initiate one... anyways I shouldn't waste more words on people I will never acknowledge in my life.

Read previous Big Island posts here... CLICK ME

Big Island for me is like what I think people imagine Hawaii to be... If you're thinking of crowded beaches, hotels, resorts and shopping then you should probably stick to Oahu - Waikiki to be specific.

The short time on the Big Island was pretty much hanging out with one of my favorite people +selena summer maxwell, eating, talking, laughing, getting massages, swimming, snorkeling, laughing, eating, eating - did I mention, eating?

It was also nice to see the group again.  It's quite funny really, I kinda wish I had a group picture.  This is my 2nd time heading to the Big Island where Summer participates in Ladies night - and of course, I am invited - the only one of the opposite sex who has been able to attend (as far as I know).  It was great to catch up, talk story, laugh about new things, eat healthy food.

Well, who knows... one of these days I'll be back - funny thing is it might be sooner than later...

If you go to the Big Island - they have so many massage schools over there! Go get one or two!  $25 for an hour is a steal!  Kinda want another one now.

Special thanks to +OnePlus for having a super awesome camera and allowing me to capture memories without bringing my DSLR.

TravelTalk - Big Island - Day 3 and 4

Wow.  Day 3 and 4 really past by quickly.

On day 3 - we had a pamper day.  I mean, traveling is quite exhausting, so we just had to partake in a 1.5 hour massage and a pedicure (my first in ages... haha).  Besides relaxing, shopping at Costco, eating ice cream, cake, talking story, sharing laughs - is always part of the equation.

Day 4 was a bit more adventurous, which included a drive around the Big Island (thanks Julie), snacks along the way, lots of puppies, Thai Food and two main attractions: South Point (The Edge of the World) and Green Sand Beach.  I'm really glad I started incorporating videos because these pictures do not do any of these sights justice.

So make sure you watch the videos - I have them in 1080P (HD) as well and don't forget to click "Like" and SUBSCRIBE!

What is surprising about South Point is that no matter how many times I have jumped over the cliff - it really doesn't get any easier!  haha, maybe I'm getting a lot older - this site is a must see if you're heading to the Big Island, its one of favorite things to do on the island.

If you're a bit adventurous, take the 2.5 mile hike to green sand beach - you can also drive there, but you will need a 4 x 4 (like most awesome places on the big island).  I swear the walk seemed longer, but hey, no pain, no gain, right?!  Plus there are so many awesome sights along the way that you will just bypass if you were just sitting in a pick up truck.

Well, I hope you enjoy these videos and pics - going to enjoy my last day here on the Big Island!

I was asked earlier about my photos - all pics taken with HTC One X+ - without any modification, photoshopping, etc. haha, that takes too much time.

TravelTalk - Big Island - Day 5 (Final Day)

 Wow.

What an amazing trip this has been.  I hope you have enjoyed the videos and photos I have shared of this trip... and if you have, just know that these videos and experiences are even better in person.

So come and visit!

My last day here on the Big Island has been awesome.  It pretty much involves the things I love doing the most: snorkeling, eating, relaxing, talking, laughing, eating, eating, eating.

I am not even sure how to continue writing... I guess I'll start with the daily events.

After breakfast consisting of tea, coffee, blogging, rice, eggs and bacon (yum), we headed out to the other side of the island for some snorkeling.

I'll post some underwater shots and videos soon!

After snorkeling, lunch, drive, pot luck dinner, hot tub, conversation, moon, stars, laugh, talk.

Ha ha, I do wish I was a bit more eloquent with words as there is definitely more to share.  The peaceful familiarity and friendliness of the Big Island has a big space in my heart - but like most places it is the people that has made this experience the great experience that it is.

Some people say, I am lucky to travel the world.
Actually, I am very lucky to have made friends around the world.

Special thanks to Coco and Summer.

NEXT STOP: MAUI

PS. I probably will not have reception or WiFi the entire weekend.

TravelTalk - Big Island - Day 2

2nd day on the big island (1st full day) was super fun.

I'm staying on the big island on the west side in a town called Paauilo.  Small country town in the mountains and I love it.

Ill be able to post some videos tonight.

Besides driving around the northern part of the island which I love... We stopped for snacks along the way. Malasadas, cookies, and a Costco lunch... Haha

Then we went snorkeling.  My favorite to do in the water. There were so many fishes and next time I won't forget to bring the waterproof camera.

Well, enjoy the pics..

Until next time.

TravelTalk - Big Island - Day 1

If you could only see what I see.

If you could hear what I hear.

If you could smell what I smell.

You'd tell me, leave the bathroom already. Hahaha.

The big island is my favorite island. I'm staying on the Hilo side, about an hour north.

I didn't get to take too many pictures, because we were just hanging out, talking story.

Seriously though, I'm up in the mountains and the horizon always manages to offer something amazing with a new hue I've never seen before.  (Which of course cameras no can capture... Haha).

Sorry so short, gotta get eggs from the chicken coup and start the day...

Big Island Adventure

Note to self: Buy a waterproof camera.

Staying somewhere without cell phone reception - check.
Being intoxicated on New Years Eve - check.
Realizing the next day (I'm too old for this shit) - check.
Having wine later that day - check.

ha ha. a lot of things happened on this short trip to Hawai'i.  Being bit by mosquitoes, driving around the island, meeting new people, reuniting with old friends, staying at a bed and breakfast, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking to a snorkel spot, hiking up a mountain, eating awesome homecooked food, laughing like there are no problems with the world.

I am seriously blessed, I had an awesome trip to the big island and got to participate in some awesome activities - I wish I could share some of them with you (see note to self - up top), then again, its probably one of those things that you need to see for yourself.  or go google it - Kealakekua Bay.

We even stayed at a bed and breakfast 1 day - check it out!  http://www.alohaguesthouse.com/ - this place is beyond gorgeous and I can't believe its my 4 or 5th time staying there!

Well, enough rambling for me.  For me, it was great to get away from the city and be in the company of a good friend.  I really didn't miss having my cell phone - I actually might disconnect it when I move.

Alright - picture time, I know most of you are visual people... so here are some pictures.

TravelTalk - Next Stop - Hawaii

Yes, you've probably know something about Hawaii, or watched a movie or television show that was filmed there...

Do you have any curiosities about Hawaii that can't be answered by google?

Well, ask away and who knows - it might be the topic of my next TravelTalk series!

I'll be visiting 3 islands: Oahu, Big Island and Maui.

In Maui, I will be spending a quick weekend in Hana with one of my good friends from Brazil.  On the Big Island, I will be hanging out with my friend Summer checking out nature's goodness!  I'm also fortunate enough to be in Oahu for almost 3 weeks, spending time with my friends and family.

I have not been back to Hawaii since February of 2012.

This pic was taken at one of my going away parties... =]

Happy Holidays from Hawai'i!

Aloha everyone!

Hope you had an awesome holiday season.  Hopefully you received everything you wished for and more.  This holiday season has been beyond phenomenal for me.  Some downs but countless ups that has made me realize how lucky I am.

On Christmas day... I spent the day frolicking in the ocean and sun bathing.  Also, went to watch Mission Impossible 4 (what a great movie!)  I'm blessed to have such awesome presents this year - way beyond what I was expecting!

This week has been great weather-wise.  Slightly chilly and cloudy in the AM (so you can sleep in a little bit) and then it gets nice and warm!  I've been pretty much outdoors every day this week.  From hiking Kuliouou ridge, going around the island, getting tanned at many beaches, eating delicious food!

Lucky me.  Perfect weather & awesome friends.

I'll be spending my NYE on the Big Island! A new adventure for me to start 2012 - just one of many upcoming adventures!

Have an awesome NYE!

Have fun!

Christmas Day - Ala Moana Beach Park
