Kiva

KIVA
"Be the change you want to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi. This is one of the most inspirational quotes I have ever read. I have now been with Kiva for 1 year. Today, I lent $50 to 2 individuals trying to make change their world for the better.

Surfboard! My Top 6 Songs

Surfboard!

I purchased a new surfboard! Isle surfboards is having a sale this weekend (and since its 9PM here, its past midnight in California!) I was debating between a 9'0" performance longboard and a 9'2" longboard. I decided to go with the 9'2" (pictured on my earlier blog) since I use a 8'9" carbon fiber board now, so a little different depending on what the waves are looking like.

My Top 6 Songs
This is a pretty cool player that Amazon has. As you guys know, I've been listening to a lot of country music recently, and here are the top 6 songs I am currently listening to.

Running
I ran today at 5:45am and did bikram after work. Its now past 10P, wonder why I am not tired... Hmmmm.... Well, I am laying off my running for a bit, my knees are still bugging me after the 4th Km. At this rate, I am not really sure how I am going to do on the 1/2 marathon on 6/15, but I just have to wait it out.

Have a great weekend!

New Surfboard! 24 Hour, VOG, ANTM, Gay Marriage, and GOODIES

New Surfboard!
Whoooo hoooo! Isle surfboards (located in San Diego - Don't ask me why they're called Isle surfboards) is having a 20% off sale this weekend. Its crazy that it is cheaper for me to buy this board in San Diego, a travel bag and check it back to Honolulu than for me to buy a new surfboard here! Crazy!

24 Hour Fitness
Hey guys! I just got 2 coupons for free initiation and processing fee. This is like a $196.82 value. If you're interested let me know and I'll either mail it out to you or I'll be traveling around end of May. Let me know soon. This expires 06/02/2008.

VOG
I hate vog. There is so much vog in the air right now and no tradewinds! Arrgghh! The skyline looks like I am living in LA... (ewwwww). Ok, vog is specific to Hawaii, and here is the definition courtesy of Wikipedia: Vog is a (blended word) from the words "volcanic" and "smog," and is a volcanic smog formed when sulfur dioxide and other pollutants emitted by an erupting volcano mix with oxygen and moisture in the presence of sunlight. The term is most often applied to the island of Hawaii, where the Kilauea volcano has been erupting continuously since 1983. Kilauea emits an estimate of 2,000 tons of vog every day. So yup, its muggy and hot outside.

ANTM
I am not sure if ANTM was affected by the writer's strike, but the season finale, wasn't edited well. It seemed really short and had a lot of commercials. Anywho, I wanted Anya to win (she's from Hawaii), but hey she's 19 and 6 foot tall. She'll have a successful career as a model no doubt. On the other hand, let me say... Congratulations Whitney! The 1st Full-Figured woman to win ANTM.
Photobucket
Do you want to catch up with all this ANTM? I found this website and yeah... All previous ANTM models and their current work. ALL THINGS ANTM

GAY MARRIAGE
Wow... this news was pleasantly unexpected. Go California! Countries have laws that allow the gay population to get married and I am glad that our most populous state has overturned the gay marriage ban. Hopefully, other states will follow suit. Most European countries even allow gay adoption. We should have the right to be as miserable as straight people... :)

GOODIES
Alright! I am going shopping on Sunday for goodies. Let me know if you want me to bring you anything. Hawaiian coffee, macadamia nuts, stickers, cookies, or some vog. Let me know or forever hold your peace.

Completely Random

Random - Part 1
So what is going on with me? Nothing much. This past weekend...the usual. Beach and surfing. I hiked up Koko Head on Saturday late afternoon for an extra workout. There were 2 things that really caught my eye and stood out...

Tennis Balls (dang, they're really round)

Awesome View (and they said the iPhone takes bad photos!)

Random - Part 2
Hmmm... I am so bored at work. I paid my bills, balanced my checkbook, browsed multiple websites for things I probably won't buy, and yup... Its still before lunch. I have been web-window shopping. Maybe Sex and the City via iTunes? Damn Target for not shipping to Hawaii. I haven't decided what I want to treat myself for my birthday. I do have a wish list but they are things I don't really need. I am debating on a new surfboard, a new iMac (really unnecessary as my iBook G4 works fine), a pickup truck (a definite no need as well as my van works fine). I have decided on 2 tattoos though. One will be going on my back, the title of my blog (ima wo ikiru - Live in the Moment - in Kanji) and the 2nd will be going on my hip which is my name in Kanji.

Random - Part 3
It pays to be nice. One of my former co-workers at my old mortgage company called me and told me that he has United Miles that are expiring, so guess what? He'll be transferring 15,000 United miles to my account. Sweet! Soon enough miles for a round the world trip! Speaking of miles, I crossed the 140K threshold! Enough for 2 tickets round trip to Australia. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie Oi!

Random - Part 4
My pipeline is clearing out! I guess its a good time I am going on vacation.

Sex, Out & About, Commercials

SEX
Whatever your thinking, its not what you think it is. Being that I'm pretty much celibate, and a big fan of Sex and the City. I went to the movie website and took the Match Your Man quiz. I wasn't sure who it was gonna be, but when I received my answer... Yeah I am quite predictable, and hell if he was gay and he loved me, we'd be married today. I can't wait to see this movie May 30th!

OUT & ABOUT
I had friends visit from out of town (Vancouver, Canada), and wow. We met in Amsterdam March 2003. Its Friday, and yes, I can't wait to get a good night's rest. Monday night, I took them to dessert at Satura's Cafe (very yum), then off to swimming at the beach at Queen's beach where no one was around and the water quite warm. After that we went to Hula's (yes the gay bar), and proceeded to chat up a storm and drink until past 1AM. Tuesday, after a rough day at work, we had dinner at Blu Water Grill, well more like appetizers and the food didn't really seem that appetizing, so instead opted for comfort food and went to The Shack next door, where I feasted on chili-cheese fries and drank beer. Yes, BEER! I don't even drink, let alone beer! I had a pitcher of beer! We were playing darts as well. 3 rounds of darts and yes, no injuries ensued. Wednesday, we went to Germaine's Luau. I love that luau. Its like my 8th time there, and yes my husband was there. Thursday we had lunch at Assagios. Happy Hour, Dinner and our farewell at Dave & Busters. Monica was there as well at Dave & Busters. Its Friday. Good night.

COMMERCIALS
I rarely watch commercial nowadays with DVR and such, but sometimes a commercial just catches your eye, and I just can't help, but to laugh. Laugh. LAUGH. Here is my nomination for commercial of the year.

@ Home, Weekend, Spam Jam

@ Home
I've been spending a lot more time at home. On M-W-F (work -> yoga -> home), on Tu-Th (work -> home). I guess this is for 2 main reasons, saving money and saving money. Spending a lot more time at home, I have found various things to keep me company. I have been playing more XBOX 360 (mostly RPGs - currently playing Eternal Sonata, just finished Lost Odyssey). OMG, so yeah I'm in love with TV. In the morning before work, I enjoy watching the Today Show. I normally watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert (I am in love with the 2 aforementioned shows). On Tuesday, I watch American Idol. On Wednesdays, I watch Top Chef, America's Net Top Model, sometimes the result show of ANTM. Fridays, I watch The Soup! SNL on Saturdays! On Sundays, I watch Desperate Housewives. Besides TV, I've been cooking every night for dinner. I've also been reading all my magazines. I subscribe to Popular Mechanics, Surfing, Entertainment Weekly, The Honolulu Advertiser.

Weekend
SATURDAY
Whew, where do I begin? I woke up Saturday, ate a bowl of cereal, Venus wasn't ready to go surfing, so I ran. My knee is still giving me a little trouble.

Then I went to register for the Honolulu Marathon! I got there at 8:45 and registration started at 10:00, and I was like #30. It was early registration this Saturday and Sunday, and locals pay only $30. If you wait until normal registration, its $80 for Kamaaina. After that, picked up Venus, then we went surfing, caught some awesome waves, it was high tide and yeah... I was out there for almost 2 hours. The board I am riding now is 8'9", the shorter the board the harder it is. Most people start on a 12', and hopefully soon I'll be on a shortboard. Baked in the sun for a couple of hours. After baking in the sun for an additional 2 hours, its Waikiki Spam Jam.

Waikiki Spam Jam
This is an annual event where they close 4 blocks of Kalakaua (and you know that's a busy street) and it turns into a block party until 10PM. There are 2 music stages, one on each end. TONS of Spam-affiliated food.

Street at 4pm (it didn't start until 5 - last year over 20,000 people attended)
Photobucket
Spam Merchandise (I almost bought a SPAM t-shirt!)
Photobucket
Spam Mascot (I wanted to bite him)
Photobucket
Spam - Hula Show (they were awesome, they did 2 numbers... so cute the kids)
Photobucket

After that, we went to Hula's for 1 drink. Then sat on the beach and watched the sunset. And guess what? I was on TV?! That's me in the Blue... in 3 shots (0:20, 0:35, 0:39)! :)

SUNDAY
Guess what? Surfing! Well, before that Venus came by and I made an awesome breakfast, then off to the beach for more sun and surf! Got home at 6:30P, did laundry, watched Desperate Housewives.

Yup a great weekend. If you've read all the way here, I'd suggest book marking my blog as soon I will stop automatic emails of my posts.
