MusicTalk - Current Playlist nov.09

This week, I am listening to two songs from 2 great vocalists: Christina Aguilera and Carrie Underwood.
I've been quite down the last couple of weeks, and I guess the music here reflects that.  Sorry for the ballads and sad songs, but they are great songs, nonetheless.

This first song was originally recorded by A Great Big World, but in this version they are accompanied by the incomparable Christina Aguilera.

Here are the lyrics...

Say something, I'm giving up on you.
I'll be the one, if you want me to.
Anywhere, I would've followed you.
Say something, I'm giving up on you.

And I am feeling so small.
It was over my head
I know nothing at all.

And I will stumble and fall.
I'm still learning to love
Just starting to crawl.

Say something, I'm giving up on you.
I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you.
Anywhere, I would've followed you.
Say something, I'm giving up on you.

And I will swallow my pride.
You're the one that I love
And I'm saying goodbye.

Say something, I'm giving up on you.
And I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you.
And anywhere, I would have followed you.
Oh-oh-oh-oh say something, I'm giving up on you.

Say something, I'm giving up on you.

Say something...

This next song, is by one of my favorite country artists, Carrie Underwood.  I love all of her albums and this particular song highlights her great vocal ability.  In this song, she sings with the original artist who recorded the song, Randy Travis.

MusicTalk - 2012 - Favorite Albums

I´m surprised I didn't write a year-end music and movie blog!

Better late than never!  So here are my favorite CDs for 2012.
Yes, I still buy CDs (probably 2-3 a month actually)

Yes, talking about albums.  Most people just tend to listen to singles, but I like to listen to an entire CD, most of the time, the best music that an artist has to showcase aren't ones that are commercially viable.

One of my favorite albums for 2012 (and perhaps the MOST underrated album in 2012) is Christina Aguiera's "Lotus" album - this is probably due to the fact that her lead single "Your Body" is over sexualized and rather mediocre compared to the rest of the album and not to mention the cover.

Favorite Songs
Just a Fool (with Blake Shelton) - CLICK HERE for YouTube audio (with Spanish subtitles).
Let there be Love - My current favorite song for running - CLICK HERE for audio.
Blank Page - Great ballad - CLICK HERE for audio.

Joss Stone - The Soul Session Part II

One of my favorite songs - For God's Sake - CLICK HERE for audio.
This album is funky, soulful, colored with great vocals that showcases the range and depth of her voice.

Phillip Phillips - The World from the Side of the Moon.

The winner of American Idol has released an album that is refreshing to hear.  With music currently taking a dance pop route, this CD is great to listen to especially if you like acoustics.

I hope you guys enjoy these songs and albums as much as I do!

BRITNEY VS. CHRISTINA VS. HILARY DUFF

BRITNEY VS. CHRISTINA
WOMANIZER VS. KEEPS GETTIN' BETTER VS. REACH OUT

Womanizer by Britney Spears will no doubt hit #1 in the US Charts but not because its a great song, it'll be due to all of us not getting enough of Britney Spears, and the sad thing is this song is not really all that great. I don't want to hear Womanizer again. She mentions it over 50 times in the song. Why doesn't she sing anymore? I saw her sing in Star search and I swear she sang better then instead of just talking in her song...

Keeps Gettin' Better by Christina Aguilera will probably not hit #1 (a top 10 hit no doubt) but this song definitely showcases her talent in a restrained manner. A good pop song. Though after hearing both songs, they sort of sound similar. I just wish Christina was releasing a full album instead of a Greatest Hits Album.

Reach out with Hilary Duff (a top 40 song if she's lucky) is a new single which will be included in her Greatest hits album Nov. 11, her 2nd greatest hits album... (are you serious?) I love Hilary and adore her last CD, but honestly all these songs sound the same...

Listen to Reach out..

Can't wait to see the videos...

NO WONDER I LISTEN TO COUNTRY NOW...

W.O.M. (Waste of Money)

WASTE OF MONEY
Alright, let me begin by saying that I am huge Christina Aguilera fan. That being said, her new CD is going to be a complete WOM (waste of money). Her new song, "Keeps Gettin' Better" was released today and her album "Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade of Hits" will be released November 11, 2008.

Are you serious? A greatest hits album? You've had 3 albums. Most of your fans have purchased these 3 albums, and you're going to record 2 new songs and re-make 2 old songs, throw in your previous singles and call it a greatest hits?! Come on Christina! Ok, well if you do want people to buy your "Greatest Hits" album, how about you don't sell your single "Keeps Gettin' Better" on iTunes. Once people buy your new song, then there is NO REASON whatsoever to get the new "Greatest Hits" album.

I don't know, it just doesn't make sense to me. I don't particularly enjoy the new single and I don't have any reason to buy your greatest hits album as I've purchased the previous singles you have released.

Why don't you just release a mini-album like you did previously with Target and Justin Timberlake. I honestly doubt people will shelve out $10.00 for this album as a whole.

Maybe next time, Christina.
