HI to FL - Last Supper

The title is not to be taken completely literally nor taken into consideration with its religion overtones, but merely my last supper here in Hawaii.

This took place at one of my favorite places to eat - Little Village.  Yes, I wish everyone could make it, but I do understand!

Before Little Village, we had martinis at Indigo's!  I enjoyed my cosmos, while everyone else had their Lychee Martinis...

I can't believe we ate so much food - then again, if you've eaten at Little Village you'd understand why.  The food was D-LISH!  2 orders of lettuce wraps, an order of crispy won-tons, 2 orders of honey-walnut shrimp (yum), salt and pepper pork chops, orange chicken, mushroom and green beans, scallop and onions, fried rice... and that wasn't even the best part...

The best part was the company.  We wined, talked, chatted, laughed about nearly anything and everything.

Well before I get to the announcement, I can't believe I ate this much!  I had lunch with my 2nd set of parents... yes - they are completely awesome... At Assagio's.  In fact, I still have leftovers.

Oh yeah... the announcement, well, I made an announcement at the dinner table - that guess what?!

I changed my plane ticket.

I'm not leaving until Friday... though this time for real, I even got a rental car... LOL

Yup, so we will be having the last tailgate this Thursday night!

Quick review of Little Village:

Food - Affordable and D-LISH

Service - Quick and Meticulous.

If you're craving Chinese with a modern twist - this is the place to be.

Review - 3660 On The Rise

It has been quite some time since I've written about food and restaurant dining, so tonight - you are in for a treat!  Yes, I will be writing a quick review for 3660 On The Rise. 

Though this isn't my first time dining at this restaurant, the long gap since my last visit has made me realize what an exquisite restaurant this establishment is.

Basically - yes, the service is phenomenal - so is the food.

Besides eating Kobe potstickers, calamari, ahi sashimi... the caesar salad was better than any out there... and so is the Miso butterfish. YUM!

Of course, if you just happen to have room for dessert - which is really hard since all of the food is delicious.  I'd suggest the chocoholic - only if you LOVE chocolate, the one of the left is very decadent.  The middle one is a chocolate sorbet on top of chocolate funnel cake.

Price range of this restaurant is $10-$20 for appetizers, $20-$35 for entrees, and roughly $10 for dessert.  All worth it, but I reserve this place for special occasions.  I think the food is better than 12th avenue grill and Sarento's.  However, it lacks the pizzazz and the view of the latter.

Antigua - Best Restaurant?!

Before I start ranting and raving about the best restaurant in Antigua, Guatemala.  I guess I'll start chit-chatting about what makes the best restaurant...

First and foremost the food - No matter how great the rest of the following criterion are, or how bad they are, we'd do some crazy stuff for great food.  Such as wait in line for an hour or more, or putting with the loud crowd Yet, having great food doesn't overcome all of the other factors in a great restaurant, they can still make or break the experience.  When it comes to food, there are different categories, my favorite are: comfort food and high-end restaurants.  Yes, dropping $175 for dinner for 2 is great, but also having some SPAM or some DIM SUM is super great too (OMG, I can't wait to get back to Hawaii - yes, I am seriously craving Zippys right now!!)

Atmosphere- I know... atmosphere can be gimmicky (spinning restaurants and such), but believe me, when I atmosphere can make or break a dining experience)... Imagine, you're dining at Sarento's Atop the I (I is for Ilikai - LINK HERE).  On your way up, there is an elevator that takes you directly to the top of the Ilikai (a hotel in Waikiki) and basically dares you not to be in awe.  If you go for dinner, you'll more than likely see the sunset, a spectacle that is enhanced by the fact that all of its booths face outwards into the ocean, so any seating arrangement is very intimate.



Ok, so let me get to my favorite restaurant in Antigua... As you can see from the pictures, there is ample room, great seating, a fountain, and not to mention a view of the volcano.

Which restaurant am I talking about?  Yes, you're looking at images of McDonalds in Antigua.

Most McDonalds around the world tend to be part of buildings with an industrial decor inside.  As you can see, this McD is far from uniform.

I know, what am I doing at McDonalds in Guatemala.  I've been traveling for over 3 months!  I was just craving french fries and was blown away by the beautiful location.

12th Avenue Grill - Kaimuki

We went to 12th Avenue Grill to celebrate my 3 years anniversary.

It has been a long time since I have been to 12th Avenue Grill and everything is just as I remembered it.  The great good, the warm ambiance, everything was on point, except the service wasn't as exceptional as it normally is.

12th Avenue Grill is a great restaurant, though there is a set menu, everyday 4-6 specials that are made from the fresh produce found at the market... So don't be afraid to try new things!

Food - 4.25 stars out of 5.

Service - 2.75 stars out of 5.

Entree - $18-$26

My favorite... Mac & Cheese - Don't forget to add the Black Forest Ham... :]]

Crispy exterior, creamy rich interior.  Classy yummy goodness that will leave you yearning for more!

Potato Croquette with some phenomenal cheese that I can't remember!














Asian Pear Salad - Phenomenal.  Light dressing, with bacon wrapped grilled pears... YUM

Beef Wellington - Oh so delicious, the puff pastry was flaky and the beef was oh so tender!

Grilled Chicken - The most mediocre thing out of an outstanding dinner.  Skin was slightly charred, but the mashed potato and the mushroom were very delish!

So, what you eat after, you say?  Dessert of course.  This was one of the highlights of dinner.  With 4 eager forks, needless to say, you snooze, you lose.

This is a fruit crisp with fresh creme, the fruit will vary, and today it was apple.  Completely appropriate as the last apple crisp we had (at The Counter) was a complete disappointment!  The inside was cold and the server made it seem like it was our fault... Anywho... This is surprisingly light, airy and delish.  You think you want to share... but don't...  :]
