I have been here in A Coruña for 6 weeks. Time does fly by. Funny thing is I haven't gone out at all.
The few times that I have explored A Coruña, it has been with friends from Ferrol. Speaking of which, I need to plan the next Ferrol English Dinner Club!
This weekend was quite unique, simply because my class (Health Care Management) ended last Friday. No school (teaching wise), and no responsibilities.
So what do I do when I have nothing to do?!
Video Games and Junk Food WEEKEND - DUH!
Weekend of The Walking Dead, DOHA 2, Final Fantasy VII, ice cream, banana chocolate pancakes, 3 bags of potato chips and even home made syrup!
Just in case you're on Steam - hawaiiinsomniac.
While, I definitely agree that it is ok to have junk food once in a while, this can't be a daily thing.
In fact, just got home from the gym. Took a spinning class, then ran on the treadmill for a quick 15 minutes, then swam. Protein shake and gatorade.
That was my weekend. Perhaps, I should get productive and plan some lessons! o_O
How was your weekend? Seriously, this past weekend was so crazy awesome, I'm still in disbelief really. Though someone is typing this blog... hmmm... might as well be me. (disclaimer: quite exhausted - if this doesn't make sense, I'll update at a later point in time)
Disclaimer - this will be a lengthy blog.
How do you celebrate your last Friday in Hawai'i (in the near foreseeable future)? Happy Hour of course!! There's no better Happy Hour on the island than Dave and Busters (M-F 1630-1900, Su-Th 2200 - closing)! All the hard liquor and mixed drinks are 50% off. That's not even the best part - the location, watching the sunset at the roof deck of DnB while having a Cosmo is really where its at - especially when you're in the company of awesome friends!
What do you when Happy Hour is over? Play games of course! After playing tons of games for tickets we didn't redeem. What's next?! Time for the next bar. (seriously). I don't think I've been to 2 bars in one night since 2006?
Well, we lost one on the way to Hula's. Hula's was fun, it hasn't changed much in years, great relaxed environment with people that are easily approachable and a bit of dancing to be had - and dancing we did.
One part of this experience that was a bit of a sour note, was the fact that I knew I had to scuba dive the next day at 0730 - at Electric Beach on the east side. Basically, I needed to be up and out of the house by 0600 the next day. The ironic part is I took the written part of my NAUI scuba exam online on Friday - that stated you shouldn't drink nor smoke before you dive. At the end of the night, I had a bit too much to drink, but I spent roughly 2 hours drinking heaps of water, coffee and dancing.
After a quick power nap, it was time to head to Electric Beach for my first dive in the ocean. Now, you guys know that I am scared of open water, so I had a bit of anxiety, but fortunately - I was too tired to really have any fear. In fact, I feel asleep in the back of the pickup truck on the way there (and even on the way back). We performed two dives this day.
Electric Beach at sunrise
Group Briefing - apparently I'm not listening.
Hmmm... I thought I had a lot more things to say about scuba certification, but the thoughts really allude me at this time. Let me just write about some technical aspects. The certification process requires 5 dives (including 1 freedive - without gear). Each dive requires performing tasks that must be completed - cool part is, its the same tasks we did in the pool the Tuesday and Thursday night prior.
Scuba Gear
Actually, thinking about it, having taken this class, it has made me feel a lot more comfortable in the water. Even learning basic skills like clearing your mask, different ways to dive underwater, and just the experience of being underwater - 3 hours and 23 minutes underwater has really opened my eyes that there really isn't anything to be scared of - as long as you know your abilities and respect the water. Yes, I am not going on some 200 ft. dive anytime soon, but yes, I'll go on some shallower dives.
I'm NAUI Scuba Certified - shut the FRONT DOOR! Will post a copy of the ID upon receipt in a week or so.
Me underwater...
Oh yeah, this past weekend too, a lot of my things have been sold, the extra TVs are gone, bed, desks, etc. Tomorrow, the car will be sold and hopefully the bike as well.
PS. Fuji XP20 sucks underwater. I think it would be good for snorkeling or the pool, nothing deeper than 5ft. Oh yeah, I saw 4 turtles today. lol where's that honu picture?
Sorry so short... ha ha... I'm brain pO.Oped.
PPS. Thinking of getting certified? I highly recommend the company that handled my certification. They are (very patient individuals) really cool people who just love what they do.
Check them out: Pearl Harbor Divers.
There are many places in the world that can offer a wide variety of activities, food and culture... but none of them are like Hawaii...
This past weekend was such an awesome weekend that it epitomizes the saying - Lucky you live Hawaii...
Activities... well besides eating... I spent my weekend doing some pretty random things. I was in Kailua dog sitting 3 energetic handsome dogs... earlier this week, I also took a friend to eat her first Pho ever (can you believe that - gasp!!) Here she is... say hi Maya!
Maya and her beef pho!!
Friday night... was great... it was a night of wine-ing, dining and great food and company... Maura and I went to Sarento's atop the "I" - I've been lucky to eat here twice this year! We ended up at the restaurant from 1930 to 2300! Of course, I had the double stuffed pork chops - how can you go wrong with a pork chop stuffed with prosciutto!?
Maura and I - we need more pics together!
Oh yeah... guess what?!
What?!
I went ice skating for the first time! Yes, seriously - ice skating... it was a celebration of Mr. Bobby's birthday and he was completely down for doing something different... he's quite a natural mover on the ice - me on the other hand needed the walker to get use to the movement with the ice skates... needless to say it was quite awesome! (more pictures coming soon!)
Michelle and Bobby
Sunday morning was just phenomenal...
I almost feel like I should write a separate blog for this... maybe I will! lol
If you would have told me 2 years ago that I would be riding 55 miles on a bike and going over heartbreak hill - I would have told you that you are crazy - well mostly because I didn't know how to ride a bike. I am so happy/surprised how far I have come... From learning how to ride my Walmart mountain bike at the Hawaii Kai Boat Parking Lot to quickly progressing to a hybrid bike to a road bike and now my first cycling event - with only 1 month to train! Crazy... but I feel that the word no is starting to leave my vocabulary...
What do you do on a day where you ride your bike for over 50 miles?! Well, besides complaining that everything is sore... you go to the beach of course!
BEFORE MOST PEOPLE WAKE UP... I had quite a productive day and its 9AM. I woke up at 5AM, packed my cooler with food (for a potluck), put together my running gear, and yes. Today, our training was for 90 minutes and we ran Diamond head, so there was a hill to and fro and I was able to keep pace and run a great run... Just a little bit over 10.75 miles! whoo hoo!
After running we had a nutrition class, had our potluck... and guess what else? I renewed my registration. :) I've had Roxanne for over a year! I can't believe it and I've only driven her 5200 miles.
Saturday Night! Its Chris Rock. Yes, its bad photo from my iPhone and yes, I was in the 4th row, and yes I laughed so hard my face was covered in tears.
My Breakfast Sunday!
Driving Around Sunday! Yes, I'm driving a convertible. Long Story!
SPORTS This week has been a big weekend for me in regards to sports simply because I only watch 3 sporting events on TV. Tennis, golf and soccer. This past week has been so awesome. Watching Venus and Serena make it to the round of 16. The #1 player in the world get spanked by Zheng, ranked in the 120s. Maria Sharapova getting her ass handed to her by a fellow Russian ranked below 100. Yup, a lot of upsets. No American men are in the round of 16 for the first time in decades. I hope the William sisters meet in the finals, but that's just wishful thinking. Today, I also watched the match between Spain and Germany. Given the past matches I thought Germany was going to win, but not even close. I'm surprised that Spain only won by 1 (1-0), I really thought that they were going to win 3-0 (at least). Spain had control of the ball almost the whole time, and they just kept attacking and attacking. Viva Espana!
MOVIE GALORE During the summer time, I normally don't watch a lot of movies. I'm normally out and about running, yoga, surfing, beach bumming, but since my car has been acting up recently (I drove her the 1st time today in about 1.5 weeks) I've had a lot of time not only to play video games, but also to watch movies. I've seen probably 5 movies the past 10 days, which is really a lot for me. At the theaters, I saw Kung Fu Panda, Wanted and Wall-e. Guess what? They are all awesome movies! Kung Fu Panda had me laughing from beginning to end. I really haven't laughed that hard in ages! My favorite scene is with the chopsticks! Yesterday, I saw Wall-e and true to Pixar form, the movie was really an emotional roller coaster. I can't believe, I had an emotional connection to robots who couldn't form a sentence. On the other end, is Wanted, just a great kick-butt summer movie! I really enjoyed it. Great action, good acting, and yeah I guessed the twist at the ending, but hey, still well done. Hmmmmm... Its hard to just recommend 1 movie. If you had to see just 1, it would really just depend on what you were in the mood for. Just non-stop laugher, Kung Fu Panda, for comedy, action, and a message!, Wall-E. For action on speed, caffeine, crack, and whatever stimulus, Wanted is the movie for you. All A movies! WALL-E WANTED
THRIFTY SHIPPING I love eBay. Recently I received coupons, 1 for 10% off, and the other for $10 off shipping that I could use 3 times. Well, I've gotten a couple of great deals. First a video game, I basically saved $15, than if I bought it at the store, 2nd Microsoft Xbox points, I saved $10 and lastly, my big purchase today, I bought an Apple Gift certificate on eBay! The gift certificate was valued at $275.00, I bought it at $262.00, and I had a 10% coupon, so my total was $235.80. Not to mention, I earned $15.72 eBay bucks which is good towards a future purchase so my total cost = $220.87. I am going to use it to buy my new iPhone coming about 7.11 along with the insurance plan that covers the phone for 2 years! Super! Well, its bed time for me, and yeah gotta work out in the AM.
King Kamehameha Day Yesterday was King Kamehameha Day and yes its a State Holiday. After yoga (see below), I went into work from 9:00-12:30, the phone must have rang twice, and only received 2 pertinent emails. I wish every Wednesday, could be a 1/2 day, it just really breaks up the work week and makes it go way smoother! I went to the beach yesterday and wanted to go surfing, but it was sort of flat, plus with the holiday, and summer (not to mention windy), there were so many people out there fighting for junk waves. Basically, I was just cruising at the beach until 5pm, then grab a snack at Ono Cheese Steakhouse, then went sailing (for free, it helps to know the right people). Pretty cool stuff. We were out in the water from 6pm-7:30pm, and the sun was barely setting when we came in. Then off to Shabu Shabu for dinner! Great place to eat! Its Japanese/Korean and you basically boil your food. Its normally a winter thing, but here in Hawaii its ono all year round (like we really have winter). As if that wasn't enough food, we went to my favorite dessert place, Satura Cake, and I had a Kona-Misu cake and a large earl grey tea. Yes, I was falling asleep on the way home, but hey, today, I woke up well rested, and off to make some breakfast and to work at 9AM!
Shabu Shabu - Youtube (Amateur video, he overcooks the meat)
WEEKEND This past weekend was so awesome! Saturday, I went surfing to try out my new board and yes, "I Love IT!" So worth the extra hassle. :) The south shore had swells coming in, so since it has been about 3 weeks since I went surfing last, I got tossed around a bit, but hey it was all good fun. After surfing and relaxing on the beach, it was the 92nd Annual King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade. Pretty cool stuff! Later, I saw "La Misma Luna" at the $1 theater and its really good. The movie reminds me of the Filipino struggle and the American Dream.
From the Parade...
On Sunday, I was just on a roll. I woke up, made breakfast, then went to Kapiolani Park and ran. After running and walking a lap on the park to relax and cool down, I went surfing. Yup, the swells were huge and I caught some awesome waves. The last wave was so huge, when it broke it was going so fast, I had to squat really low and spread my arms out. If my board had been any shorter or narrower, I would have been doing some 360s underwater. The wave broke and the whitewash was a little slow, so I moved up on the board about 6" from the tip. The wave had reformed and caught some steam. Needless to say, its my biggest, fastest, longest wave ever. After that, I became a beach bum for a good 4 hours, then I had to move my van because there was another parade going on. I left directly to Kahala Mall, the Apple Store to be exact. I made an appointment because for some reason, my address book was not syncing properly with my .mac account. 10 minutes later, and a couple of clicks and such, the mac genius had fixed the problem! Super Awesome! Then I bought a clear blue noseguard for my board, and headed back to the car. Well, I haven't been doing Bikram as religiously as I used to. The fact that the Hawaii Kai location cut off the 4:30 class really isn't helping the fact, so yes on Sunday I went to Bikram Yoga at the Kaimuki location at 4:30. After that, I was basically dead. I drove home, emptied my van. I had clothes from running, wet board shorts and towel from surfing, soak filled towels from bikram. I did laundry, made some dinner, and pretty much passed out.
Pics from the Apple Store (taken on the iMac)
iPhone I am super stoked about the new iPhone coming out and for multiple reasons. The new model of the iPhone will now have 3G capabilities, flush headjack (so you can use any headsets you would like), tons of awesome 3rd party applications, its slightly thinner, comes with GPS, and yes Enterprise support (push email being the popular one), contacts search, iWork document support, the capability to view PowerPoint attachments, bulk move and delete, a scientific calculator in landscape mode. NOT ONLY THAT. I have a .mac account, which will soon be renamed mobile me. Now wouldn't it be cool if you added a contact on your cell phone that it would instantaneously update your address book in your computer, or how about if you added an event on your computer that it would immediately appear on your cell phone. Well mobileme is just that. Push email? Every smart phone pretty much has it now, but syncing your phone with your computer wirelessly? OMG! Yes, I am super stoked! Well, another person is also super stoke! My sister, Len-Len, on 7/11 when the new iPhone comes out, she will be receiving my current iPhone, which the warranty (since I purchased the extended coverage) is covered until June 29, 2010). Since most people that reading this are mac owners, you can appreciate what Apple, their genius bar, and their warranties can do for you. If they can't fix it, they will replace it, and if its a model that no longer exists, you will get the new model. (lol, not a hint for Len-Len to throw it around) Wow, its really late. Dang... all this iPhone talk got me all excited! I know a lot of phones do a lot of things, but hey, I have over 120GB of media on my iTunes. Its nice to have my music, videos, movies, podcasts around. I heart Apple!
TV Now that its summer, I rarely watch TV, but dang there are no shows to watch. No ANTM, Top Chef is almost over, Project Runway is no where to be seen. House is done. Arrgghh! I want my 30 rock! The Avatar! 1 more season of Battlestar Galactica. I swear if it wasn't for re-runs of The Golden Girls and America's Best Dance Group, and The Soup, and The Colbert Report, and The Daily Show... Well, I guess I have enough to tide me over until next season
Random - Part 1 So what is going on with me? Nothing much. This past weekend...the usual. Beach and surfing. I hiked up Koko Head on Saturday late afternoon for an extra workout. There were 2 things that really caught my eye and stood out...
Tennis Balls (dang, they're really round)
Awesome View (and they said the iPhone takes bad photos!)
Random - Part 2 Hmmm... I am so bored at work. I paid my bills, balanced my checkbook, browsed multiple websites for things I probably won't buy, and yup... Its still before lunch. I have been web-window shopping. Maybe Sex and the City via iTunes? Damn Target for not shipping to Hawaii. I haven't decided what I want to treat myself for my birthday. I do have a wish list but they are things I don't really need. I am debating on a new surfboard, a new iMac (really unnecessary as my iBook G4 works fine), a pickup truck (a definite no need as well as my van works fine). I have decided on 2 tattoos though. One will be going on my back, the title of my blog (ima wo ikiru - Live in the Moment - in Kanji) and the 2nd will be going on my hip which is my name in Kanji.
Max Live in the Moment
Random - Part 3 It pays to be nice. One of my former co-workers at my old mortgage company called me and told me that he has United Miles that are expiring, so guess what? He'll be transferring 15,000 United miles to my account. Sweet! Soon enough miles for a round the world trip! Speaking of miles, I crossed the 140K threshold! Enough for 2 tickets round trip to Australia. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie Oi!
Random - Part 4 My pipeline is clearing out! I guess its a good time I am going on vacation.
@ Home I've been spending a lot more time at home. On M-W-F (work -> yoga -> home), on Tu-Th (work -> home). I guess this is for 2 main reasons, saving money and saving money. Spending a lot more time at home, I have found various things to keep me company. I have been playing more XBOX 360 (mostly RPGs - currently playing Eternal Sonata, just finished Lost Odyssey). OMG, so yeah I'm in love with TV. In the morning before work, I enjoy watching the Today Show. I normally watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert (I am in love with the 2 aforementioned shows). On Tuesday, I watch American Idol. On Wednesdays, I watch Top Chef, America's Net Top Model, sometimes the result show of ANTM. Fridays, I watch The Soup! SNL on Saturdays! On Sundays, I watch Desperate Housewives. Besides TV, I've been cooking every night for dinner. I've also been reading all my magazines. I subscribe to Popular Mechanics, Surfing, Entertainment Weekly, The Honolulu Advertiser.
Weekend SATURDAY Whew, where do I begin? I woke up Saturday, ate a bowl of cereal, Venus wasn't ready to go surfing, so I ran. My knee is still giving me a little trouble.
Then I went to register for the Honolulu Marathon! I got there at 8:45 and registration started at 10:00, and I was like #30. It was early registration this Saturday and Sunday, and locals pay only $30. If you wait until normal registration, its $80 for Kamaaina. After that, picked up Venus, then we went surfing, caught some awesome waves, it was high tide and yeah... I was out there for almost 2 hours. The board I am riding now is 8'9", the shorter the board the harder it is. Most people start on a 12', and hopefully soon I'll be on a shortboard. Baked in the sun for a couple of hours. After baking in the sun for an additional 2 hours, its Waikiki Spam Jam.
Waikiki Spam Jam This is an annual event where they close 4 blocks of Kalakaua (and you know that's a busy street) and it turns into a block party until 10PM. There are 2 music stages, one on each end. TONS of Spam-affiliated food.
Street at 4pm (it didn't start until 5 - last year over 20,000 people attended) Spam Merchandise (I almost bought a SPAM t-shirt!) Spam Mascot (I wanted to bite him) Spam - Hula Show (they were awesome, they did 2 numbers... so cute the kids)
After that, we went to Hula's for 1 drink. Then sat on the beach and watched the sunset. And guess what? I was on TV?! That's me in the Blue... in 3 shots (0:20, 0:35, 0:39)! :)
SUNDAY Guess what? Surfing! Well, before that Venus came by and I made an awesome breakfast, then off to the beach for more sun and surf! Got home at 6:30P, did laundry, watched Desperate Housewives.
Yup a great weekend. If you've read all the way here, I'd suggest book marking my blog as soon I will stop automatic emails of my posts.
Weekend This past weekend was pretty chill. Basically went surfing both days, laid out on the beach, swam in the pool for about 2 hours. Yup, I am getting really dark and toned! Also went to the $1 theater saw Jumper, which was pretty entertaining. Surprising thing of all is that I don't think I spent more than $20 the whole weekend! I am being super thrifty. I have to book my tickets from Lisbon to Marrakesh. I need spending $ for a couple of trips coming up, not to mention I want a new surfboard for my birthday.
Planning Whew, planning things can be quite exhausting. I want my Vegas/LA/SD trip to be fun filled. I am thinking Catalina May 31st ($60 R/T-pp) if you wanna go, departing out of LB harbor and hopefully Sea World the day prior. I want to book a couple of shows for Vegas. Not to mention FOOD! I want to go to Bobby Flay's restaurant in LV. Here are my official travel dates: Las Vegas: May 24-27, LA: May 27-29, San Diego: May 29 - June 2. Let's start planning dinner dates!
Book of the Month - April I read about 2 books every month. My pick this month is "Remember Me" by Sophie Kinsella. I read this book in about a 1.5 days. Its basically a story about staying true to yourself, how events in your life change but at the end of all of it, don't forget who you are. Its a cross between How the Devil Wears Prada and Time Travel. I would suggest picking this up. Really entertaining.
Fastest Time Ever! Today, I clocked in my fastest mile ever. Considering that my knees were bothering me, I really can't wait to push the envelope and see how fast and far I can go. Hopefully soon, I'll be down to 6 minute miles.
I decided it was Spring Cleaning time... Online Spring cleaning. I may have gone overboard, but I don't think most people will notice. I updated my Gmail contacts, I had 996, now down to 78 (I updated everyone's full name). I have deleted myspace, cyworld, yahoo, picturetrail, friendster, WAYN and ringo accounts. With all of the online technology available today, I just find that people create false sense of relationships. Is the friend on your top 8 a friend if you leave each other 1000s of comments, but never talk on the phone? My answer is no. As much as I love technology, there are certain things that takes things too far. Yes, I am guilty of blogging about my life, or writing heartfelt emails to friends, but it doesn't end there. Its supplemented by phone calls, Christmas cards, birthday cards and gifts. Not just a e-greeting. Technology should supplement your life. Not replace it.
Travel Plans
Just to update everyone on my travel plans for the rest of the year! I have a ticket to Argentina in May which I will be postponing. Instead, I am heading to Las Vegas for Memorial Day Weekend. I am taking off the 1st week in June to head to Australia, I decided that I am only going if I can get a buddy pass from someone to head down there. If not, I might just extend my Vegas trip for a week, and head to LA and visit family and friends or head to Maui for a week to clear my head and decide what to do with life. My big trip of the year is to Europe, I have a confirmed ticket to Lisbon, Portugal for September. I haven't 100% decided which other countries I will be visiting.
Farthest Run in 2008... Saturday morning, I decided to run. Ok, I have to deviate on why I woke up earlier than expected and why I felt the need to run (the answer, relieve stress). On the 15th, I placed an order with Nike.com for new shoes, a singlet, and lots of headbands. Since I spent over $175, I qualified for free shipping. After receiving my order confirmation, I realized that it was for UPS ground, so I called immediately and a gentleman named Mike assisted me. He informed me that since I was in Hawaii, my order was going to be shipped via USPS Priority mail. After leaving him a great feedback, low and behold! I get a tracking number on the 18th that the items have been shipped via UPS ground. Oh, I was livid. Their customer support center was already closed, so I decided to email them. Saturday, I woke up at 6AM! I called Nike. I was informed by the agent since the item have been shipped, there is nothing they can do about it. They can't call UPS and change the shipping to 2 day air - I call BS -, so she didn't offer me any solutions whatsoever, just wait until my items arrive which was expected to be the 28th, which will be later than that because I am in Hawaii. Racking my brain for answers, I came up with a solution! I duplicated my order, had her ship it 2 day air (at no charge), and email me a return label for the other items (also free), after that, I set my Nike + for 10 miles, and yes, I completed 10 miles. I thought i was never going to finish. There was so much headwind on the way home...For some reason the flash isn't working (so i can't post my run), but needless to say, I ran 16.25 Km. I am almost ready for the 1/2 marathon!
MORE (about my weekend)! Saturday, I checked into my hotel. Yes! I got a hotel for 1 day, because I didn't want to try to find parking in the morning for the AIDS walk. So I checked in, went to the beach, got some sun. Decided I needed to go surfing, so I went surfing. Well, its been 5 months, since I last surfed last, and oh yeah, its something I really miss! After we went surfing, we ate at Chili's. They have a new huge cheeseburger which is awesome! Then we went to Hula's! It was great. It was my first time drinking in ages! I only had 3 drinks though and I was pretty buzzed. After that just went back to the hotel, and pretty much passed out. I woke up at 6:30, as usual, and yup, went surfing, and oh yeah, I got my ass whooped. Great fun! I was riding a 8'9" that didn't have wax on it, but still caught a couple of good waves. Time just really passed me by, I didn't realize what time it was 8. I had to haul ass back to the hotel, grab and shirt and run to Kapiolani park for the AIDS walk.
The AIDS walk was so much fun! There were soooo many people there (see pic), they had everything. A cheerleading group, a warm up session with an instructor, water points, free starbucks, bananas, various booths (I got a pedometer at one), and a grab bag upon finishing. After the walk, ran back to the hotel, checked out, went to Ward, ate a Loco Moco at Big City Diner! Saw an awesome movie, The Forbidden Kingdom! Then went back to the beach for 2 more hours of sun, ate an early dinner at Spaghetti Factory and here we are, doing laundry and getting ready for the week up ahead.
2008 Honolulu AIDS walk pic, this doesn't even show 1/3 of the people there.
Team Max (3 absentees, 1 was drunk, and 2 couldn't find parking)
Picture at the beach on Sunday (yes I am getting dark =^_^=)
This is something I've been saying a lot recently. Its a phrase we use when you just realize how grateful you are to live in Hawaii. Whether its another beautiful sunny day, a beautiful sunset or you're at the grocery store and they know where and what furikake is.
On Saturday, I did the MS walk in the morning and in the afternoon, I decided I need more of a workout, so I hiked up Koko Head. I decided to take these photos as I was inspired. Most people don't make it to the top, and I can't believe I did because it has been a while since I last hiked Koko Head.
Today, I woke up and I went for a jog. Then, I went to the brunch for the March of Dimes and yes. I threw down! I must have had at least 20 strips of bacon, 10 slices of Portuguese sausage, 5 scoops of rice, a plateful of fruit, 4 pancakes (banana, chocolate chip, macadamia nut and blueberry), and a mimosa. Yum Yum. I even won a gift certificate at the silent auction.
Other than that, nothing much to report. I bought a XBOX 360 game - mass effects which returned, because I am not coordinated enough to play. You actually have to use all the buttons and such.. lol. I like RPGs. I played over 60+ hours of Lost Odyssey got most the collectibles and beat the game.
Well... now that I don't drink and party, what do I do on the weekends? Well, in the morning, I like to either run, surf, do bikram, or hike. This weekend was a running weekend. I have started a challenge on Nike + on who can log the most distance before Memorial Day Weekend.
Saturday was a pretty cool day. I went running in the morning. Played some Xbox 360 (gamer tag - hawaiiinsomniac), then I went to see Run, Fat Boy, Run (awesome movie) starring my favorite actor - Simon Pegg! (Go see Hot Fuzz!) Afterwards, I had early dinner with a friend at my favorite Chinese place on the island, Little Village in Chinatown. Then we walked around Ala Moana mall, and then off to see the play, "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change!" at the Moana valley Theater. It was the final showing (after they added an additional week of performances) and it was sold out for good reason, I didn't stop laughing throughout the whole performance, which was about 2.5 hours. I wish they had it on DVD, I would really buy it.
Today, I went running. Fortunately it was overcast, and even rained a little. I was only planning to run only 5K, but it was so nice and cool that I just kept running and running and running and running, so I ended up logging in over 13km. After my ritual of an Epsom salt bath, its DVR/Netflix time. I watched Dan in Real Life, along with rerun of ANTM, and did household chores. Cleaned, did some laundry. Yup. Nothing too exciting.
