My 35th Birthday Wish!

There is only 1 thing I want for my 35th birthday!  Since I am currently car-less and my old bike is rusty musty sitting in storage, this is all I want for my birthday!

Yup, I am going to be selfish this birthday and ask for something!

This awesome Dawes Lightning 1500 bike will get me around, nearly everywhere I need to go!  It is currently on sale for $599 (at least there's free shipping!)

My 34th Birthday (week).

Yup, I'm officially 34!

My birthday week has been so awesome!  Dinner with friends, tons of messages from friends and family around the world, I got to cook for a few friends here and also collect some goods for CASCO.

First - shopping!

Funny thing is I ended up not buying anything.  Yes, I'm really hard to shop for!

Next craving some American food...

Milk share, with onion rings, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings and jalopeno poppers... and a burger. YUM

Then off to dinner with a few friends... Then party until 6am.

Yup, besides that, throw a birthday party and catered it myself.

I love to cook and cooking for 17 people was super fun.

I should have taken more pictures - there were 3 appetizers, 3 main courses and 3 desserts.

Then party until 8am.

Ha ha, sounds like a great party!

SaveTalk - Gift Wrap

Wow. Considering I like to save money - I'm surprised I haven't blogged about SaveTalk before.  Well, I have blogged about prepaid cell phone plans, which I categorized under TechTalk, so just to check blog post about saving money, click on the label SaveTalk.

Today, I was going to wrap a birthday present and I realized that I didn't have any gift wrap!

Well, instead of going to the store - check what's around your house!

Here is what I came up with.  I used my old issue of Men's Journal to wrap presents and found ads that have special meaning!  I'm sure you have some old mags laying around the house!

FriendTalk - Birthday Project

HI to FL - Crazy Busy.

Wow. I last blogged on Tuesday and yup, so much has happened.

Well, I'm leaving Hawaii in less than a week. Seriously?  Seriously... Seriously!

Ok... so what it do?

It did a lot. o.O

First on Wednesday I had my MBA interview with UH - Manoa.

I didn't realize - how different I was than the other candidates until this interview.  The interview was one on one, but the questions that were asked really made me think about me and the choices I have made in my life.

I recall one of the interview questions was - "What is your biggest accomplishment?"  

I answered - "learning how to ride a bike at 29"

He was in disbelief.  I explained my situation and more or less, it was this moment that I knew I could do anything.  anything I put my mind to.  Fear is not experiencing the unknown and I learned that I facing my fears has really changed my life these past couple of years.

I told him from there, I started doing it all, swimming, surfing, snorkeling and now scuba diving.  Yes, scared 'ol me of the open water (yes Summer - insert outer Hanauma bay face here).

Well, after the interview - Jen picked me up from UH and we were celebrating her birthday - so we spent the whole day together.  First was a quick errand and LUNCH time! (Nom nom nom).

I was really quite nervous about the interview, so I didn't eat anything.

For lunch, we went to Sam Choy's - it was yummy.  I had the bento, and it was crazy huge.  This is a Sam Choy bento.

After that, we went to Target (with Starbucks of course - to counteract everything that I just ate), and went back to Kailua, said hi to the doggies (hi tank, tai and toby!), took a power nap, and a couple of hours later, it was dinner time.

Went to Zia's and it was a great mini reunion.  I hadn't seen Leilani in forever!  Yes, stuffing my face with pupus, wine, pasta, garlic bread and dessert. o.O

Well, after that - its BOWLING TIME.

Seriously!?  how FUN is bowling!  I can't believe I hadn't bowled in FOREVER!

I think it may have been over 5 years.  

Weird thing is, I'm a decent bowler. lol I think it was the Corona's after the wine.

I bowled a 124 then a 136! (shut the front door!)

Wow this blog is getting lengthy.  After that, it was almost 10, went back to Jen's place, watched Project Runway - All Stars, passed out.

Next day, had breakfast at Cinnamon's in Kailua.  Took the bus home.  Found a buyer for my car. Went to Scuba Certification (from 1800-2320), then to Jack in the Box (ha ha).

Alright... the next couple of days are crazy busy as well.  It's crunch time!

Hmmm. Reminds me of a picture.  

A friend is a friend that knows - when you say you're ok, to give you a hug and tell you that its going to be ok.  because they can tell that you're not.

I'm ok.

Spending Time with BFF...

BFF and me!

You know... There are just some people in the world that no matter how long you've seen each other, no matter if you lost touch, no matter the distance, time difference, they're always there for you and you can always just pick up where you left off...

well, that's called a BFF...  I'm fortunate to have 5.  ha... no guessing! you know who you are!!  :)

ok, no fighting... bwah hah hah.. ok, well I got to spend some much need time with my BFFWWW ha! I just made that up... Best Friends Forever in the Whole Wide World... and we have the same birthday!  Well, sort of, but we do celebrate it as one continuous celebration, I was born June 19 and him the day prior.

ok enough with the mushy stuff... you know why you have a best friend?  They're the only people that can tell you anything and you won't take offense, if a stranger said any of those things, you'd be mad... but your friend says it out of love... or at least I think he does. lol

i can't believe we've known each other for a decade and traveled to different countries (which is overdue by the way since its been since 2005?)  it was great seeing him... not too many people can make me laugh like he does... my only wish is we got to spend more time together... well not too much time, i do have things to do you know... bwah hah hah.

gosh, i'm just rambling on! ok to the good stuff.. basically I flew from LAX to BWI and stayed there for a couple of hours then checked into a hotel in Washington DC, Westin Georgetown - very nice hotel, cute pool,. great location, affordable.  Don't pay for parking, just time the street parking and bring lots of coins!  (its $28 a night and $40 for valet - you just lost your mind!!)

DC is great, but not for me, it reminds me between a cross of Los Angeles and the East Coast.  Lots of shopping areas (which of course the only thing I bought was food - and not to mention CUPCAKES!!) nom nommm nommmmmm

ok, squirrel. lol Sprinkles cupcakes are soo yummy... yes, I bought 6 of different flavors to try them out!

My fav tied between the coconut and the red velvet (which you can try bake yourself with the mix at William & Sonoma but it isnt the same..

Sorry so short, but I'm in Guatemala and I got things to do! lolz

Another Year

ANOTHER YEAR

Yes. Today, I am another year older.

Another year wiser? probably not. Another year richer? definitely no.

I might not be financially well off, but I am fortunate in so many other ways. I am the healthiest and fittest I have ever been. I am the happiest I have ever been. Finding a happy medium between spending time with others and my time alone.

What am I going to accomplish the next year? Who knows. I enjoy staying free and unpredictable.

Maybe a job in South America. Maybe going back to uni. Maybe selling everything I own and going around the world.
